Springbok Casino blackjack: how the table plays

Springbok Casino blackjack pays 3:2 on a natural and 2:1 on insurance; the dealer hits soft 17 and you can double on any two cards. Rounds run R1–R500, and Springbok puts the house edge at 0.65% for players who follow basic strategy. Blackjack bets don't count toward bonus wagering, so this is a no-coupon table.

How a round of blackjack works at Springbok

  1. Stake your chips. The rack holds chips from R2–R200, and the table takes R1–R500 a round.
  2. Two cards each. You see both of yours and one of the dealer's. Number cards count at face value, picture cards as ten and an Ace as one or eleven.
  3. Insurance, if the dealer shows an Ace. The game offers a side bet, paying 2:1, that the dealer has blackjack. Basic strategy declines it.
  4. Your decisions. Hit, stand, double on any two cards for exactly one more card, or split a pair into two hands. Springbok deals one card to split Aces.
  5. The dealer draws. The dealer plays by fixed rules and, at this table, hits a soft 17: a seventeen that includes an Ace counted as eleven.
  6. Settlement. The hand closer to twenty-one without going over wins, and a two-card twenty-one (a natural) pays 3:2.

Springbok's article lists those two payouts and no others. In standard blackjack an ordinary winning hand is paid at even money and a tie with the dealer returns your stake; Springbok doesn't restate either, so the game's help panel is the place to confirm them in the game's own words.

Table limits in rand

The table accepts R1 to R500 a round, and the chip rack runs R2–R200. The two ranges measure different things: chips are the denominations you click, while the limits are the total the table takes on one round. Springbok's article gives both without explaining how they fit together, so read the limits shown in the game before your first real-money hand. For the maximums at every Springbok table side by side, see Springbok's table limits compared.

Why the 3:2 natural matters

The payout on a natural is one of the rules that moves the house edge most. Some blackjack tables elsewhere pay less for a natural than the classic price, which makes the game noticeably dearer. Springbok's rule card at the top of this page shows 3:2, and its 0.65% figure is quoted for this table's rules.

Compare every table's house edge

Springbok's figure for blackjack is 0.65%, the lowest it publishes for any table bet. The condition is in the label: the figure assumes every hand is played by the book. Each departure from basic strategy for these rules adds to the real cost, and the habits in the mistakes list below add up quickly.

Over many rounds, 0.65% is the portion of each rand you stake that stays with the table on average, stakes made from earlier wins included. Compare it with baccarat's Banker at 1.06% or Caribbean Hold'Em at 2.16% in the full Springbok house-edge comparison.

Blackjack rules Springbok doesn't publish

Springbok's article covers the payouts, the soft-17 rule, doubling and split Aces. It says nothing about several rules that shift strategy and the edge a little:

Rules to confirm in the game's help panel
RuleWhy it matters
Number of decksFewer decks change a handful of plays and the edge itself.
SurrenderIf offered, giving up half a stake on hard 16 against a 9, 10 or Ace becomes part of the chart.
Doubling after a splitDecides whether small pairs are split against weak up cards.
Re-splittingWhether a second pair can be split again, and how many hands you may hold.
Dealer checks for blackjackWhether the dealer looks for a natural before you double or split, which decides what a dealer blackjack can take from you.

Felt Rules doesn't fill those gaps with another casino's rules. The basic strategy chart assumes the cautious options and notes what changes if the game turns out to be more generous.

Common blackjack mistakes to avoid

  • Insuring a strong hand. Insurance is a separate bet on the dealer's second card, not protection for your twenty.
  • Treating side bets as part of the game. Perfect Pairs at 6.11% and Suit 'Em Up at 3.41% are separate wagers with much bigger edges than the main hand, on Springbok's own figures.
  • Playing hunches. Standing on 12 against a 2 "because a ten is due" swaps a worked-out play for a feeling. Cards aren't due.
  • Chasing with bigger stakes. Doubling your chips after a losing hand doesn't touch the 0.65%; it only pushes more rand through it.
  • Playing on a bonus balance. Blackjack bets don't clear Springbok's wagering, and staking them while a bonus is running can void the bonus and its winnings. While a bonus is active, every bet is also capped at R100.
  • Losing track of time. Hands are short. Decide before you start how long you'll sit, and stop when the time is up.

Play blackjack at Springbok without a bonus

Bonus wagering counts on 7 Stud Poker, Bingo games, European Slot Poker, Keno, Pai Gow Poker, Scratch Cards and all Slots unless otherwise stated; bets on excluded games before wagering is complete void the bonus and winningsSpringbok T&Cs, 9 Oct 2026. Blackjack isn't on that list, so a coupon gains you nothing at this table and puts the coupon itself at risk. Deposit without one, and open blackjack at Springbok when you're ready.

Questions players ask

What does blackjack pay at Springbok Casino?

A natural (an Ace and a ten-value card as your first two cards) pays 3:2, and insurance pays 2:1, according to Springbok's table-games article.

Does the dealer hit soft 17 at Springbok?

Yes. Springbok's article says the dealer hits soft 17, which is why the basic strategy chart for this table doubles a few extra hands.

What are the blackjack table limits at Springbok?

R1 to R500 a round, with chips from R2–R200.

How many decks does Springbok blackjack use?

Springbok doesn't publish a deck count for blackjack. It gives one for baccarat (six decks) but not for this table, so check the game's help panel.

Does blackjack count toward Springbok's bonus wagering?

No. Springbok's T&Cs leave blackjack off the wagering list, and a blackjack bet placed while a bonus is still being played through can cancel that bonus. Play it from a deposit made without a coupon.
