Springbok Casino house edge, compared bet by bet

The Springbok Casino house edge runs from 0.65% on blackjack played by basic strategy to 7.69% on the Lucky 7 seven bet, on the figures Springbok publishes for its tables. The edge is the slice of every rand staked that a bet keeps over a long run of rounds, so a lower number means your budget lasts longer, not that a win is likely. Springbok gives no figure for roulette, Teen Patti, Andar Bahar or 32 Cards.

What the house edge means for your stake

Every bet on a casino table pays a little less than its true chance of winning would justify. The house edge measures that gap as a percentage of the amount you bet. It is not a fee skimmed off each round: you win some rounds and lose others, and the edge only shows itself once enough rounds have gone by for the swings to settle.

Take baccarat's Tie. It pays 9:1, and Springbok's figure for it is 4.93%. Over a long run of rounds, the Tie holds on to about that fraction of all the money bet on it. One shoe can finish anywhere at all; the percentage describes where thousands of rounds tend to end up.

It is charged on turnover, not on your deposit

The edge applies to every rand you put on the felt, including rand won a few hands ago and bet again. The total of all your stakes in a session, your turnover, is usually several times the money you sat down with, and the percentage works on all of it.

Pace matters as much as the percentage

Two games with similar edges cost different amounts per hour if one deals faster. Andar Bahar and 32 Cards ask for no decisions once your chips are down, so rounds can follow each other quickly, while a blackjack hand waits for you to choose. A low-edge game played fast can cost more over an evening than a dearer game played slowly.

Every Springbok house edge on one chart

The chart holds every house edge Springbok publishes for its tables, sorted from smallest to largest. Springbok's table-games article quotes the figures and says they are taken from the rules panels inside each game. Each row opens that game's rules page, and the last row names the tables that have no figure at all.

Every published house edge at Springbok's tables, lowest firstSpringbok's own figures (table-games article), checked 9 Oct 2026. Shorter bar = smaller built-in edge.

Baccarat Tie bet 4.93%
Caribbean Stud 5.22%
Perfect Pairs side bet 6.11%
Lucky 7 seven 7.69%
European Roulette, Teen Patti, Andar Bahar, 32 CardsNo figure published

One row is a range. For Akbar Romeo Walter Springbok gives two figures, 2.16% at the low end and 4.24% at the high end, without saying which bet carries which. Lucky 7 appears twice because its up/down bets and its seven bet are priced separately.

Big payouts usually carry big edges

Headline payout against house edge
BetPaysHouse edge
Blackjack, a natural3:20.65% for the whole game, with basic strategy
Baccarat Bankereven money less 5% commission1.06%
Suit 'Em Up, suited Aces60:13.41% for the side bet
Baccarat Tie9:14.93%
Perfect Pairs, perfect pair25:16.11% for the side bet
Lucky 7, the seven11:17.69%

The bets that promise the largest multiples tend to sit at the expensive end of the chart. A big payout is rare by design, and the price of that rarity is written into the odds. Side-bet figures cover the whole side bet, not only its top line.

The lowest house edge games at Springbok

On Springbok's own figures, these are the cheapest bets on the felt. Each comes with a condition worth knowing before you choose it.

  • Blackjack at 0.65%. The figure assumes you play every hand by basic strategy for Springbok's blackjack rules. Guessing, copying the dealer or taking insurance all push your real cost above it.
  • Baccarat Banker at 1.06% and Player at 1.24%. There are no decisions to get wrong once the bet is placed. A house edge always accounts for how a bet is paid, so the Banker commission is part of that figure, not an extra charge on top.
  • Caribbean Hold'Em at 2.16%. The lowest of the three Caribbean poker tables on Springbok's numbers. Springbok doesn't say which playing decisions the figure assumes, so read it as a best case.
  • Akbar Romeo Walter from 2.16%. Only the low end of its range belongs here; the high end is 4.24%.

Side bets and the highest house edges

At the far end of the chart sit the bets that pay most when they land.

  • Lucky 7's seven at 7.69%. It pays 11:1 from a shoe of 8 decks and is the dearest bet Springbok prices. The same game's up and down bets cost 3.84%.
  • Perfect Pairs at 6.11%. A side bet that your first two cards form a pair, with the top line at 25:1. It rides next to a main game that costs 0.65% when played well.
  • Caribbean Stud at 5.22%. The most expensive poker table, against 3.14% for Caribbean Draw and 2.16% for Hold'Em.
  • Baccarat's Tie at 4.93%. Far above Banker or Player on the same table.
  • Tri Card Poker at 4.50%. Springbok gives one figure for the game and doesn't split it between the main bet and Pair+.

Give side bets their own line in your budget. Adding Perfect Pairs to every blackjack hand puts a second, much larger percentage on part of your turnover, and careful play on the main hand does nothing to it. Suit 'Em Up works the same way at 3.41%.

The Caribbean progressive coin

The three Caribbean poker tables offer an optional coin for a shared progressive. Springbok publishes what the coin pays, such as R100 for a full house and R75 for a flush, but no house edge for the coin, and its figures for the three tables don't say whether the coin is included. Treat the coin as a separate bet with an unknown price.

House edge vs RTP: one number seen from two sides

Slot pages usually quote return to player (RTP) instead of a house edge. Both describe the same thing from opposite ends: RTP is the share of staked money a game pays back over a long run, and the house edge is the share it keeps. Together they always make one hundred percent.

Springbok's table article talks in house edges, so this guide does too and doesn't convert them into RTP figures of its own. For how a published RTP works on the slot side, see what a slot's RTP figure does and doesn't tell you.

Tables without a published house edge

Springbok publishes no house edge for European Roulette, Teen Patti, Andar Bahar or 32 Cards. This guide leaves those gaps open instead of borrowing numbers from other casinos' versions of the games, which can run on different rules.

European Roulette

A single zero wheel in the Specialty tab. Springbok says inside bets go up to R1,000 and outside bets to R10,000, but lists no payouts or edge. Roulette rules at Springbok.

Teen Patti

The main bet on Player A or B pays 0.95:1 and a tied main bet is returned. Neither the game's help page nor Springbok states an edge. Teen Patti rules.

Andar Bahar and 32 Cards

Andar pays 1:1 and Bahar 0.9:1; in 32 Cards Player 8 pays 11:1 and Player 11 1:1. The help pages list payouts only. Andar Bahar rules.

Andar and Bahar pay differently, yet neither the help page nor the table says which box receives the first card, so there is no honest way to put a number on that difference here.

What the house edge can't tell you

  • How tonight will go. The edge is an average over a very large number of rounds. Short sessions swing well above and below it.
  • How bumpy the ride is. A bet paying 11:1 lands rarely and pays in lumps, while a Banker bet moves in small steps either way. Long dry spells are normal on the big-multiple bets.
  • Whether you'll play it well. On blackjack and the poker tables your choices are part of the figure. Springbok's 0.65% for blackjack assumes basic strategy on every hand.
  • Anything about the next card. No streak, pattern or staking plan changes the edge on a bet. Raising your stake after a loss only increases the amount the same percentage works on.
  • Whether the figures still hold. They are Springbok's own, quoted from its article on the date shown below, and a game's rules can change after that check. The help panel inside each game is the place to confirm them.

Using the house edge to plan a table session

  1. Set the budget in rand first. Decide what the evening may cost before you choose a game, and treat that money as spent.
  2. Pick the bet, then the stake. A low-edge bet at a stake your budget can carry for many rounds lasts longer than a pricey side bet at the same stake.
  3. Ring-fence the side bets. If you want the odd Perfect Pairs or Tie, give it a small fixed slice of the budget instead of adding it to every round.
  4. Mind the pace. Fast games with no decisions turn a budget over quickly. A timer helps.
  5. Leave the bonus out. Table bets don't count toward Springbok's wagering, and staking them while a bonus is running can void it. Why tables don't clear bonuses.

Questions players ask

What is the house edge at Springbok Casino?

Springbok publishes figures for its table bets from 0.65% (blackjack with basic strategy) to 7.69% (the Lucky 7 seven bet). Each figure is the share of all money staked on that bet the game keeps over a long run of rounds.

What is the lowest house edge at Springbok Casino?

Blackjack at 0.65%, but only with basic strategy on every hand. Among bets with no decisions to make, baccarat's Banker at 1.06% is the lowest on Springbok's figures.

Does Springbok publish a house edge for roulette?

No. Springbok confirms a single zero wheel and says inside bets go up to R1,000, but it gives no house edge or payout table for European Roulette, so this guide prints none.

Is house edge the same as RTP?

They are two halves of one number. RTP is the share a game pays back over a long run and the house edge is the share it keeps; together they make one hundred percent. Springbok quotes its table figures as house edges.

Can a betting system lower the house edge?

No. Raising or cutting stakes after wins or losses changes how much you bet, not the edge on each bet. Only playing decisions, such as basic strategy at blackjack, keep your cost close to Springbok's figure.
