How the Lucky 7 card game works
Players often look for this table as the RTG Lucky 7 card game. Springbok's footer names Realtime Gaming (RTG) as its software, and the lobby tags most of its games RTG. Springbok's table-games article gives Lucky 7 only a brief mention, so the published rules are short:
- Cards come from a shoe of 8 decks.
- There are two kinds of bet: up/down, and seven.
- A winning seven bet pays 11:1.
- A round can be staked from R1 to R500.
The bet names point to calls on whether a card lands above or below seven, or on seven itself, but Springbok does not spell the rule out. It also leaves out what up or down pays, exactly which ranks count as up or down, and how a seven settles those two bets. Treat the names as a hint, and the game's own rules as the answer.
Read the help panel first
Everything missing from Springbok's article is in the game itself. Open Lucky 7 in practice mode, read its rules and paytable, and note the up/down price before you stake real rand. Springbok says logged-out players get a one-off R1,000 practice (fun-money) balance that does not renewOperator claim: Springbok article, 9 Oct 2026.
Lucky 7 payouts and house edge

| Bet | House edge |
|---|---|
| Lucky 7 up/down | 3.84% |
| Lucky 7 seven | 7.69% |
On Springbok's figures, the up/down bets carry an edge of 3.84%: over a long run of rounds, the game keeps roughly that share of every rand staked on them. The seven bet's figure is 7.69%. The bigger payout comes with a bigger cut over time, which is the usual trade at a casino table.
Neither number predicts a session. They describe thousands of rounds; one evening can end well above or well below them.
Where Lucky 7 sits among Springbok's tables
Springbok's published edges run from 0.65% to 7.69%. On the figures checked on 9 October 2026, the seven bet carries the highest edge Springbok quotes for any table bet, and up/down lands in the middle of the range, near the Suit 'Em Up side bet (3.41%) and Tri Card Poker (4.50%). The full house-edge comparison puts every bet on one bar.
Up/down or seven: choosing your bet
If keeping the house's share small matters most to you, the up/down bets carry the lower of the two edges Springbok publishes for this game. The seven's long price of 11:1 signals a bet that wins far less often, and Springbok's figure says it also costs more over time; its pull is the size of one win, not its value across a session.
- Keep stakes flat. Choose one stake per round and stay with it. Changing size after a loss does not move either edge.
- Treat the seven as a side order. If you enjoy it, make it a small, occasional stake rather than the bet you play every round.
- No seven is ever "due". A seven pays 11:1 whatever came before it, and Springbok's edge is quoted for every seven bet, not only for one placed after a long gap.
Lucky 7's quick, single-call rhythm is close to Andar Bahar's. The difference worth knowing is that Lucky 7 has published edges and Andar Bahar does not.
Lucky 7 table limits
Springbok's article gives Lucky 7 a range of R1–R500 a round. It does not say whether the up/down and seven bets have separate minimums, so check the table sign when the game loads.
For comparison, Springbok lists R1–R500 for Andar Bahar, R1–R500 for 32 Cards and R1–R500 for Akbar Romeo Walter. A low floor and fast rounds make it easy to play far more rounds than you planned, so decide on a number of rounds or a stop time before the first deal.
Lucky 7 card game vs the Lucky 7 bonus
Springbok also runs a monthly promotion called Lucky 7: a 100% bonus up to R777 for the first 77 players each month, with the code sent by email and to the casino's message centre. The two share a name and nothing else.
The bonus is a deposit offer, so it comes with wagering, and the Lucky 7 card game is not on the T&Cs list of games that count toward it. Betting on the card game while that bonus, or any other, is still being wagered can void the bonus and what it won. Keep them apart: work through a bonus on games that count, and play the card game from a deposit with no bonus attached.
The promotion has its own explainer elsewhere: how Springbok's monthly Lucky 7 bonus works.
Lucky 7 mistakes to avoid
- Mixing up the two Lucky 7s. A coupon from the monthly promotion will not help you at the card table, and playing the table with that bonus active can cost you the bonus.
- Staking before you know the up/down price. Springbok's article leaves it out. Read the in-game paytable first.
- Making the seven your main bet. It is the costlier of the two on Springbok's figures.
- Chasing after a long run without a seven. Past cards do not lower the edge on the next bet.
- Letting quick rounds set your pace. Pause between rounds and check your balance against the budget you started with.

11:1, according to Springbok's table-games article. The up/down payout is not published outside the game, so read the in-game paytable.
What is the house edge on the Lucky 7 card game?
Springbok gives 3.84% for the up/down bets and 7.69% for the seven bet.
How many decks does Lucky 7 use at Springbok?
8 decks, according to Springbok's table-games article.
